Easy Read for iOS

Need help with setup, reading, subscriptions, or troubleshooting? Start with the guide below.

Using the app

Point your camera at the text you want to read. Use the zoom slider (or + / − buttons) to magnify up to 10×.
In dim light, turn on the torch if your device has one.
Tap anywhere on the camera view to freeze the image so you can select text without the picture moving.
Keep your phone in portrait (upright). Text recognition works in portrait orientation only.

After you freeze the view, draw a box around the words you want. Easy Read finds text inside that area.
Recognized text appears in the white reading pane at the bottom of the screen.
Use the expand button on the top-right of the reading pane to show more text. Tap again to collapse it to a smaller size.
Tap Read Aloud to hear the text. Tap Stop Reading while narration is playing.
Tap Back to Camera when you want to return to the live view and scan something else.

Hold the device steady when you tap to freeze — the app picks the sharpest frame from a short burst.
Fill the box with the lines you care about; avoid extra background when you can.
Good lighting and contrast help the app pick up words more reliably.
If nothing is detected, try zooming in, improving the light, or drawing a tighter box and freezing again.

Open the menu → Plans & Billing to subscribe, restore purchases, or redeem an offer code.
Premium Monthly and Premium Yearly are auto-renewing plans. Prices are shown in the App (from the App Store).
Have a promotional code? On Plans & Billing, tap Redeem Offer Code at the bottom of the Upgrade to Premium section. Apple’s redemption screen will open. You can also redeem some one-time codes in Settings → Apple Account → Redeem Gift Card or Code.
Manage or cancel Premium in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
Use Restore Purchases if you reinstalled the app or changed devices.
Offer codes are subject to eligibility and expiration set by the promotion. After a promotional period, subscriptions renew at the standard price unless you cancel.
